Victoria’s Secret Fashion show 2014

It was a dazzling night in London on December 2nd as the Angels took a flight on their wings to the annual Victoria’s Secret Fashion show 2014. This year there were six costume themes: The Gilded Angels, The Exotic Traveller, Fairy Tale, Dream Girl, University of Pink and The Angel Ball. There was glamour, there was oomph, there was an awe inspiring collection and there were our favourite singers- Taylor Swift, Ariana Grande, Ed Sheeran and Hozier. And of course we can’t forget about the stunning Fantasy Bras, flawlessly pulled off by none other than Adriana Lima and Alessandra Ambrosio. There were such breathtaking moments with Tay Tay proudly walking with her BFF Karlie Kloss, Ariana Grande flaunting the right side of her face (gasp!) and Adriana Lima and Alessandra Ambrosio flaunting the $2m Fantasy Bras. Stone has somehow cracked the most coveted code in Hollywood: how to look your best at all times. Whether she’s clad in couture or keeping it casual, Emma Stone is one fashionable lady. When she wore this one-shouldered two-tone Lanvin gown for the 2011 BAFTA Awards. She added gold accesories and curled tresses to look like Hollywood glam.

Emma Stone made lots of leg in her custom Thakoon two-piece pink and magenta, colour-block gown.The body-skimming, tailored edge of the cropped halter top was beautifully juxtaposed with the flowing wrap skirt which trailed loosely behind her. She accessorized with a complementary Tod’s metallic and magenta box clutch, barely the hint of jewels and a chunky side braid.

She made heads turn in this stunning yellow Atelier Versace pleated open-back custom gown featuring Swarovski crystal enriched padded shoulders and a waistband nipping her in at the waist creating a subtle bloussant effect.The look is wonderfully glamorous. She completed her look with a David Webb 18k yellow gold double lion necklace with emerald eyes and Revlon rouge pout.

When she attended The Amazing Spider-Man 2 photocall, Rome wearing a romantic Dolce & Gabbana white blouse and pencil skirt cut from intricate lace. The look creates the most feminine figure, especially with the tucked-in blouse. Though the (Valentino) shoes failed to excite, I love the makeup and braided hairdo.

The actress looked stunning at the Rome premiere for ‘The Amazing Spider-Man 2’ wearing a glittering maxi dress from the Valentino Pre-Fall 2014 collection.The floor-length design consisted of a beaded blouse which had an oversized pussy-bow black neck tie and a sheer geometric-print lurex maxi skirt. She teamed the unusual gown with a chic up-do, pale red lips and no jewellery whatsoever as she posed for photos.

Style guide to rock the Boho chic look

Boho-chic is a style of fashion drawing on various hippie influences. Actress Sienna Miller and model Kate Moss in England and actresses Mary-Kate Olsen in the United States were the pioneers of this nascent arena of fashion in the years 2004-2005. It has since caught up with the fashionistas. Bohemian fashion style has all the funky elements and the exotic zing of fashion – a rich cocktail of casual, hippie 70’s style and ethnic along with vintage. It’s cool, hip. and definitely feminine in a rugged and effortless way!
Follow these style tips to rock the Boho-chic fashion like Vanessa Hudgens:

1. Clothes
Boho fashion is all about being yourself. Play with colours. Opt for the earthy colours and splash them with the bright tones of magenta, orange, maroon or sapphire blues. Wear breezy and flowy shirts and skirts but do not cover yourself in the baggy clothes. That is so not Boho! Look for tops with beading, embroidery, floral prints, crochet details and super-trendy butterflies to wear with wide leg jeans or cut off shorts.

2. Shoes
Say goodbye to your glossy metallic stilettos. Opt for knee length or ankle length gladiators in earthy tones; chappals (flip-flops) with popping colours, patterns or beads look good too. Since Boho is all about being casual and comfortable, casual sandals work best with the look.

3. Accessories
Accessories are the most important element of this trend. There is never too much of them in your bohemian style. Bags, bracelets, rings, anklets, headbands, danglers, mix and match necklaces, belts, beads, barrettes for hair…the list is endless. Choose the accessories that pop out in your appearance.

4. Make-up
Face-
Keep your makeup as natural as possible. If you have a clear skin just apply your favourite moisturiser. If you aren’t lucky enough to have a perfect skin, apply concealer under your eyes and any other marks or blemishes that need to be covered. In case you need a heavy coverage, apply a water based or mineral based foundation that matches your skin tone with a wedge or a brush. Dab on a little loose powder to set the foundation.

Cheeks-
Apply a little blush from the apple of your cheeks to the outer part of your eye for a radiant look. Remember, the purpose is to add colour to the cheeks. Do not contour.

Eyes-
Apply a thin line of a black eyeliner on the upper eyelid. You can also use a brown eyeliner to soften the look. In case you aren’t very good at applying an eye liner, use a neutral eye shadow over your upper eyelids and apply kohl on the waterline of your eyes.

Lips-
A colored lip balm is your lip’s best friend. Apply it generously on your lips. Then proceed to apply a lipstick. If your eye makeup is too loud, use a softer shade of lip color and vice-versa. Avoid a high gloss lipstick.
Tip: Always apply a lipstick with a brush. This way you do not waste excessive product and your lipstick does not bleed.

Hair-
Keep your hair as natural as possible. The natural wavy or curly hair go amazing with this look. If you have straight hair, you can add some curls to them at the bottom to add drama. Accessorize your hair with your favorite headband.

Anne Hathaway celebrates her 31st birthday today and it’s hard to believe that the young girl who featured as Meghan Green in Get Real has had such an illustrious film career. The gorgeous actress has been charming us on the silver screen for over 16 years now. She has come a long way since her remarkable film debut in The Princess Diaries and has featured in highly acclaimed films like Brokeback Mountain, Les Miserables, Rachel Getting Married and The Devil Wears Prada. The actress with the million dollar smile has also graced the covers of various fashion magazines. On her birthday, I have charted her evolution from a teen princess to A-list heartthrob. 1. Year 1999

Long before she became a red-carpet diva, Anne Hathaway featured in the short lived U.S. TV series Get Real as a teen aged Meghan Green.

2. Year 2001

In the year 2001, she made her film debut with Disney’s The Princess Diaries. She played the clumsy and awkward Mia Thermopolis who is a heir to the fictional kingdom of Genovia. The film became a commercial success and Anne became an instant hit with the audience. The critics lauded her performance.

In the same year she featured in Ang Lee’s romantic drama Brokeback Mountain as Lureen Newsome Twist with Jake Gyllenhal and Heath Ledger. The film traced the complex romantic and sexual relationship between two men in the American West from 1963 to 1983. The film became a huge commercial and crictical success and took away trophies at the 78th Academy Awards.

5. Year 2006

In 2006, she played the lead in the iconic film The Devil Wears Prada with Meryl Streep. The film established her as a fashion icon. The film brilliantly depicted the fashion industry and Anne became a heartthrob.

6. Year 2008

Hathaway bagged an first Academy Award nomination in the year 2008 for the drama film Rachel Getting Married. In the same year she appeared in drama film Passengers opposite Patrick Wilson.

7. Years 2009 & 2010

Between 2009 and 2010, she appeared in rom-coms and comedy dramas like the Bride Wars, Valentine’s day and Love and Other Drugs.

8. Year 2012

In 2012, she appeared as Catwoman in Christopher Nolan’s final installment of the Batman Trilogy- The Dark Knight Rises. In the same year she bagged the Academy Award for her performance in the musical drama- Les Miserables.

Taylor Swift’s ridiculously gorgeous fashion highs in the Blank Space video

Taylor Swift’s debut pop album released on October 27 and the audience is loving every bit of it. Her new video for track Blank Space released 12 hours ago and it has hit more than 5 million views already. I can’t seem to get over her stunning and gorgeous looks in the video. She looks royal.

Taylor has given her usual flirty and chic videos a rest and in this one she takes on a more glam and mature approach. The video kicks off with her in bed, clad in a lingerie with lace gloves, matching eye mask creatively worn as a headband. Her pet cat Olivia Benson makes a stunning appearance too resting in her arms like a diva !

Throughout the video Taylor stuns with the slew of different gowns. She rocks this black lace number as she descends down the stairs with panache.

This metallic gown looks divine on her as she dances hands to hand with her partner in the video, model Sean O’ Pry (another reason to be hooked to the video).

The floral gown, the gold cross bow dress and the striped sundress are elegant and flirty.

Wardrobe must-haves for women

No woman is ever content with her wardrobe. She is always confused and worried if her outfit and fashion choice is a winner or a total disaster. So I bring to you some fashion choices that will never be wrong. Here are the must-haves for your wardrobe-

1. LBD (Little Black Dress)

No one can go wrong with the LBD. Be it a formal gathering, a casual lunch with your girlfriends or a date night with your crush, a little black dress will never let you down. You can accessorize your LBD according to the occasion.
In the picture above, model Cara Delevigne is rocking the LBD with matching ankle boots. You can add a metallic belt to add the glamour to your look and opt for stilettoes in the same colour or metallic shades and you are good to go!

2. Quality denim

Denims have always been in vogue, they are timeless. They come in all shapes and sizes for all kinds of people. They are a must have in your wardrobe, be it skinny jeans, boot cut, flared jeans or boyfriend. Avoid the acid washed denims or faded denims and stick to the dark shades. Do not hesitate splurging on a quality denim.

3. Pencil Skirt

An office meeting? A formal dinner? Or a date night? A pencil skirt is your go-to option. You can team it up with a blazer for a meeting or wear it with a silken blouse for a date night or team it up with a white oxford shirt for a formal dinner. A pencil skirt suits women of all sizes and looks classy effortlessly. Avoid the body hugging pencil skirts or the skirts way too short.

4. Nude heels/flats

Getting late for a movie and dinner date with your crush and can’t seem to find the perfect footwear? The nudes always come to the rescue. The nude in any form- pumps, wedges, stilettos, flats etc is always a saviour at the time of a fashion crisis. It goes well with almost all the colours. Pick a style you are comfortable in and you are ready to shine!

5. Scarves

Most women are unaware of the importance of scarves in their wardrobe. Scarves are a must have for every women. They can be draped in so many different styles and can change your entire appearance with every style. Grab as many scarves as you can ladies and drape them right to add a twist to your outfit.

Cardigan sweaters are for those times when the weather puzzles you (transition weather). If you are warm you can always throw away your cardigan over your shoulders and tie it around the neck and if you are cold, you are good to go. A cashmere cardigan is worth splurging on, however a good cotton cardigan looks brilliant too. Black or white, cashmere or cotton, take your pic and own it!

7. A Leather bag

A leather bag is a perfect everywhere bag, be it shopping, work or lunch. Choose a shade like black or mahogany or brown, rustic and earthy shades as they blend well with every print or colour of your outfit. Pick a medium sized bag with enough capacity. A leather bag may not be your option if environment is your cause but worry not. Many brands have their faux leather range of handbags.They are cheaper and look equally stylish.

8. Crop tops

Crop tops were made popular in the 80’s by pop queen Madonna and were further popularized by Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera. The trend has picked up again and is being flashed by models on the runways and celebs on the red carpets and movie appearances. The best thing about a crop top is that it can be worn with a skirt, shorts or a pair of trousers with ease. You can team it up with the high waist bottoms or medium waist bottoms owing to your choice. They are fun, they are hot and they are so in. So grab them ladies!

So stop fussing over fashion and play it like a pro. Refill your wardrobe with these must-haves and you wouldn’t have to fear being a fashion disaster ever.

Modern Family hit the television screens in 2009 and went on to becoming one of the most popular sitcom on the small screen. The mockumentary style show has since won many awards and continues to do so. With the show running it’s sixth season, I bring you a few facts about your favourite Modern Family stars.

1. Jay Pritchett (Ed O’Neill)

The Head of the Pritchett family, Jay Pritchett is married to a much younger Gloria in the show and is a father to an obsessive Claire Dunphy, a homosexual son Mitchell Pritchett and a stepfather to an old soul Manny.
Celeb Facts:
In his real life Ed O’Neill has a daughter named Claire.
Known for his sporty attitude in the sitcom, Ed in his real life is deep in sports too, how deep? He has trained in martial arts for 22 years and holds a black belt!

2. Gloria Pritchett (Sofia Vergara)

The hot and adorable Gloria Pritchett is known for her adorable Colombian accent, loud personality and her deep rooted Colombian traditions on the show. She is married to Jay Pritchett post a divorce from her husband with whom she bears a child- Manny.
Celeb Facts:
In real world, Sofia Vergara was married to her childhood lover when she was 18 years old. They had a son after an year into marriage and divorced soon after. Their child’s name is Manolo. (Manny and Manolo- close enough?).
Sofia also had a brother who was murdered in Colombia.

3. Claire Dunphy (Julie Bowen)

Award winning actress Julie Bowen plays the strong headed and obsessive Claire Dunphy, married to a clumsy Realtor and self confessed ‘cool dad’ Phil Dunphy.She is a mother to three kids- a dumb beauty, a bookworm daughter and an awkward young son. She had a minor heart incident in the show owing to her stress.
Celeb Facts:
Julie has two siblings, elder one an interior designer and younger one a doctor.
She is married to a Realtor in real life and has three kids- a son and two twin daughters.
Julie also has a pacemaker in her heart since her twenties! Talk about co-incidents!

4. Mitchell Pritchett (Jesse Tyler Ferguson)

Jesse Tyler Ferguson plays the “snob” lawyer Mitchell Pritchett, the homosexual son of Jay Pritchett who fell in love with his partner Cameron Tucker over a game of charades (guess the film?- Cascablanca! ). He is an environmental lawyer who had a tense relationship with his father after he came out.
Celeb Facts:
Jesse Tyler Ferguson, who is a homosexual in real life had a difficult time with his father afte he came out clean. On the subject he said “It’s a coming out process for them as well” and it takes time.
His real sister Kelly is a homosexual too.

5. Cameron Tucker (Eric Stonestreet)

The adorable and sensitive partner of Mitchell is played by actor Eric Stonestreet. In the show Cam as he is fondly called, graduated from the clown college and has a clown alter ego- Frizbo that he brings up on every possible occasion.
Celeb Fact:
As a child, Eric aspired to be a clown. At age nine he created an auguste clown called- Frizbo!

6. Alex Dunphy (Ariel Winter)

The nerdy Alex Dunphy, daughter of Claire and Phil Dunphy is played by Ariel Winter. In the show she plays an academically competitive girl who is self conscious about the way she looks. She is brilliant with her sarcastic remarks on her elder fashionable sister.
Fun Facts:
In contrast to her reel life character, Ariel Winter in real life is a diva. She made her acting debut at age 6. Besides acting, she is also a singer and a voice actress having lent her voice to various characters in films like Ice Age, Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs. Talk about being multi-talented!
Ariel is under permanent guardianship of her sister after her mother allegedly abused her both emotionally and physically. Last heard, the family said they were past the differences. Quite a Modern Family there!

7. Haley Dunphy (Sarah Hyland)

The pretty doll faced Haley Dunphy is played by actress Sarah Hyland. Haley Dunphy is the eldest daughter of Phil and Claire Dunphy. On the show Hayley is a teenage drama queen- a fashion and cellphone addict, a college dropout who changes her dates as often as her lovely clothes but keeps coming back to her senior boyfriend. She is a total diva.
Celeb facts:
Sarah Hyland comes from a family of actors, both her parents and her younger brother are actors.
Because of her baby face, Sarah is often mistaken for a teenager. She is in fact 23 years old!
Sarah had been living in with her Geek Charming co-star Matthew Prokop for 5 years. However, in the fall this year there was a trouble in the paradise and she sought a restraining order against her beau for allegedly threatening and abusing her.
Sarah Hyland was diagnosed with kidney dysplasia as a child. Her father donated her a kidney.

8. Luke Dunphy (Nolan Gould)

The youngest of the Dunphy family, Luke Dunphy- a carefree, immature and clumsy kid is played by actor Nolan Gould. Luke is the youngest sibling of Haley and Alex and he bonds the best with his father with whom takes on awkward challenges.
Celeb Facts:
Nolan Gould is a wonder child. He is a member of Mensa- the largest and oldest high IQ society in the world. With a phenomenal IQ of 150, Nolan has accelerated ten grades in school as of 2012.
At 13 years of age, he graduated from high school by taking a GED tests and planned of taking online college courses!
He also appeared on the Ellen DeGeneres show! That’s what you call an all rounder!

Best dressed ladies at the Hello! Hall of fame Awards 2014

Kareena Kapoor Khan made a royal appearance at the award night dazzling in a midnight blue Andrew Gn gown. We love her slicked back hair and her minimal make up look. Although a red-lipper would have definitely upped her look.

Evelyn Sharma is known to make beautiful red carpet appearances. This time she walked the red carpet in a gold embellished outfit (gold seems to be her latest pick of colour). Her outfit complimented her naturally radiant skin tone and her feminine style. However we feel she could have experimented with her look a little. For someone who has made spectacular appearances in the past, this look does not excite us much!

Actor and singer Sophie Choudhary hardly ever gets it wrong. She played safe in a monochrome Rohit Gandhi and Rahul Khanna dress nevertheless looking gorgeous. Everything from the messy bun to the natural peachy makeup worked in her favour. We love the box clutch but her best accessory was definitely her million dollar smile!
